Ruby Tuesday-Gentle Colors Of Winter

So many of us are sick to death of the cold dreary weather.  For those of you who have snow, I know most find it a hassle, but at least it is pretty. Down here, in the southwestern part of America, winter is bleak, and color is hard to find. All the trees and grasses are dormant and everything is in gray scale for the most part.

While out on my bid hunt this morning I noticed how very lovely some of the wild grasses were, and I found some gentle, but bright colored vines, berries and even some wildflowers. I hope they brighten your day as much as they did mine.

Can you guess which one is my favorite? Also, please tell me which is your favorite.

By the way, I found two really great birds today. I can't wait until Saturday when Anni has her bird watch blog hop at I'D Rather B Birdin'!

  1. Hi I am new here! I posted warm colors for my blogger friends in the deep of winter. But your winter seems to be real mild than theirs, because you can still see objects aside from snow! Your photos are beautiful.

    1. Hi Andrea and welcome! Thank you for stopping in. Yes I live only 27 miles north of the Texas border and our winters are mild.

We rarely get snow and during an average year I have roses through December and we even get some 70 degree days throughout the entire winter. But this winter has been a cold one so far and not typical.

But yes you are correct. We rarely see snow and have many evergreens. But our winter months, November through March are very bleak looking.

The grass turns yellowish brown and all of the trees loose their leaves. So our landscape becomes on of black and brown against cloudy skies.

This year I am just ready for it to warm up a tad. I would be thrilled with a day in the 50's!!

Happy day and I hope you come again!:-)

    1. Well I don't think my potography is even close to being as good as it could be but you are right about one thing. I do love it.

I am so excited because Walter said for me to start looking around for a new camera. I need a new camera. But, I don't want to spend the money either.

Oh dear life can be so complicated some times! Happy day and hugs to you too!:-)

  24. Those of us who have snow can tell you it isn't always pretty. You start mixing that snow with dirt and mud from the plows and it gets downright ugly.
Your shots on the other hand are gorgeous. I like too many of them to just pick one

  25. I like all of your winter red pictures.
My favorite is the vines. I like the clear cut shapes of the leaves at all seasons.
